The Islamic State--also known as the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS or ISIL or DAESH) is a militant organization in Syria and Iraq whose goal is the establishment and expansion of a caliphate (an Islamic empire). This should not be confused with all followers of Islam or the Muslim religion.
One of the biggest questions that is being debated this year is how the future president will deal with the increasing threat of ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria). With attacks happening all over the world, our next leader has the very difficult job of reassuring the country that we are safe while fighting an enemy force that has no nation.
